Back in March, I was selected to talk at the Critical Costume 2024 conference in Los Angeles. Hosted at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) by Deborah Nadoolman Landis and Sofia Pantouvaki.

My talk discussed a key theme within my PhD research and highlighted how Merlin's costume has been affected by society and popular culture throughout his lifespan on screen.

It was a joy to talk about my research and be part of the Q+A panel, where I could expand on the themes within my talk and broaden the awareness of how a singular character, like Merlin, can have an identifiable evolution.
During my time in Hollywood, I was also lucky enough to be in the audience for The Sketch to Screen panel. This yearly panel collects that year's Academy Award nominees for Best Costume Design together to discuss their processes. I also got to see all of the nominee's costumes at the FIDM Costume Exhibition! The Napoleon costumes were something to behold.
